I’m Affected
Published as Nicolas E. Miller-O’Riley (NEMO)
Moonbeam street lights-
Ghosts pass over the pavement
Leaves detaching
from their hosts,
and scurry down the sidewalk.
Faltered, fallen,
Anguished; I am condemned.
Emotions drift with the moon,
Rocking back and forth.
Crashing against
the cliffs of my skull…
The current tears my body from
soul… drowning any
semblance of rationality.
Floundering,
against the maelstrom
Fingers probing
for a moral floatation device.
Salvation is unfeasible
under the heavy hand-
Day dreaming of original sin.
Confined to darkness by the
beast of afflicting affection.
Consuming the quintessence
of my marred intelligence.
Wanton stares intertwine,
standing in for the flesh
melted away by carnal desire.
